In July we announced that we would fully integrate our DDoS protection into the cloud. You can now find it in the console under DDoS Protection.
Automatic filters included
Every public IPv4 address of your Seeds is protected by automatic filters at no additional cost. They filter out common attack patterns, regardless of how long or how heavy an attack is. This baseline protection is active from the start.
Custom filters for your applications
Custom filters protect specific applications behind an IP address, for example SSH, VPN, Minecraft or TeamSpeak. Their rules are tuned to the traffic of each application. In addition, you can set:
- IP addresses and networks - who may reach an application and who may not
- Countries - allow traffic only from selected countries, or block them
- Network operators - allow or block traffic by AS number
- Default policy - what happens to the remaining traffic: allow, filter or block
Several IP addresses at once
A configuration can be applied to several Seeds, tags or IP addresses in one step. You can also copy an existing configuration to other IP addresses.
Attacks on your IP addresses
The console now lists the attacks on your IP addresses with their peak rates and attack vectors. Once an attack has ended, its traffic is also broken down by country, network operator, source IP address, port and protocol. This helps you fine-tune your filters. Changes to your filters take effect within a few seconds, even during an ongoing attack.
Billing
Custom filters are billed per IPv4 address by the hour, up to a monthly cap. Billing starts when you order them and ends when you switch back to automatic filters. You see the price before you order.
Backups for volumes
You can now enable backups for your volumes in the console.
- While a volume is attached to a Seed, it is backed up daily.
- A final backup is taken right after you detach the volume. Without a Seed, the volume's data cannot change, so there are no further backups until you attach it again.
- The last 7 backups are kept. If you delete the volume or disable its backups, the existing backups remain available for 7 more days.
- Restoring a backup creates a new volume. You can use it in place of the old volume or copy individual files back from it.
Backups are billed by the hour based on the size of the volume. Prices are listed on the product page.
Further improvements
- New: DDoS Protection and volume backups are also available through our Public API.
- Improved: While a Seed is being backed up, the console shows the progress of the backup.
We look forward to your feedback and are available for any questions as usual.
