Self-Hosted Deployment Platform

Platform as a Service (PaaS) providers handle deployment, scaling and infrastructure so you can ship code without managing servers. When you need more control, cost transparency or data sovereignty, a self-hosted deployment platform is the alternative. Deploy your applications, databases and services on your own server, manage everything through a web dashboard and pay only for the server instead of per app or deployment. SSL certificates, routing and backups run automatically.

Your own server, your applications

Deploy your own applications

Deploy web apps, APIs or full-stack projects directly from a Git repository. Push-to-deploy ensures every commit goes live automatically. Support for Node.js, Python, PHP, Go, Ruby, Rust and all Docker-compatible applications.

Host websites and client projects

Agencies and freelancers consolidate all client projects on one server instead of paying per project at different providers. Each application runs isolated in its own container with its own domain and automatic SSL certificate. New projects go live in minutes.

Run internal tools and services

Git server (Gitea), project management, monitoring (Uptime Kuma), analytics (Plausible), password manager (Vaultwarden) or automation (n8n). Over 280 services can be installed with one click.

Provision development environments

Staging and production environments on separate servers, managed from one central dashboard. Pull request previews allow testing changes in an isolated environment before merging.

What your deployment platform handles

Full control over your infrastructure

Root access to your server, no platform restrictions. You determine which software runs, how it is configured and who has access. No artificial limits on projects, build minutes or bandwidth.

No platform fees

Cloud deployment services charge per application, per user or by consumption. On your own server, you deploy as many applications as you want without additional costs. You only pay for the server.

Automatic SSL certificates

Coolify provisions Let's Encrypt certificates automatically. Enter a domain, HTTPS is active. Certificates are renewed in the background.

Push-to-deploy from Git

Connect your GitHub, GitLab or Gitea repository. Every push automatically builds and deploys the application. Pull request previews show changes in an isolated environment.

280+ one-click services

WordPress, Ghost, Grafana, n8n, Gitea, Plausible, Uptime Kuma, Vaultwarden and many more can be installed without manual configuration. Docker Compose is natively supported.

Multiple servers, one dashboard

Manage production and staging servers, client environments or regional deployments from one central dashboard. Each server has its own reverse proxy and operates independently.

04

The proven solution for self-hosted deployment

Coolify 55,000+ GitHub stars, Apache-2.0 license

Open-source alternative to cloud deployment services (coolify.io). Web dashboard for deployments, automatic SSL certificates, Git integration and over 280 one-click services. Installation with a single command.

Suited for: Web apps, APIs, databases, WordPress, monitoring, Git servers, automation.

05

Own platform or PaaS?

Own platform

Best choice for teams managing multiple projects on their own infrastructure.

  • No fees per application or deployment
  • Unlimited apps, databases and services on one server
  • Full control over data, configuration and updates
  • GDPR compliant, data stays on your server in Germany
  • Root access, no platform restrictions
  • Server maintenance and security updates are your responsibility
  • Linux and Docker knowledge required
  • You manage scaling yourself

PaaS (cloud deployment service)

Best choice for fast deployment and minimal operational effort.

  • Instant deployments without server setup
  • Managed scaling and infrastructure
  • Zero ops overhead for server maintenance
  • Built-in CI/CD pipelines
  • Costs increase with number of apps, users or resource consumption
  • Limits on projects, build minutes or bandwidth depending on the plan
  • Dependency on the provider for pricing changes and migrations
  • Data on the provider's servers, sometimes outside the EU
Running your own deployment platform makes sense for teams that manage multiple projects and can or want to operate the infrastructure themselves. PaaS providers are the better choice when fast provisioning and minimal operational overhead are the priority.

From zero to your own platform

01Step 01

Create a seed

Choose a model with at least 2 CPU and 2 GB RAM for the platform itself. For production use with multiple applications, we recommend 4 CPU and 8 GB RAM.

02Step 02

Install Coolify

A single command in the terminal installs Coolify including Docker, reverse proxy and dashboard. Installation takes a few minutes. A detailed guide is available in our tutorials.

03Step 03

Deploy applications

Through the web dashboard, connect your Git repository or choose one of the 280+ one-click services. Domain and SSL are configured automatically.

07

Configure a seed

Billed hourly, no minimum term, no setup fee. The server is available for as many applications as you need.

Bevor Sie loslegen.

What is a self-hosted deployment platform?
Software that runs on your own server and simplifies deploying applications. Instead of manually configuring Docker, reverse proxy, SSL and databases, the platform handles this automatically. You push code or select a service, the system takes care of the rest.
Do I need Docker knowledge?
No. Coolify detects frameworks automatically and handles containerization. Installation is done via a script that sets up everything needed. Basic Linux terminal knowledge helps for initial setup, but Docker expertise is not required.
Can I host multiple websites on one server?
Yes, unlimited. Coolify uses Traefik as a reverse proxy to route incoming traffic to the correct container based on the domain name. Each application runs isolated in its own container. A single server can host dozens of small to medium websites and services.
Is Coolify free?
Yes. The self-hosted version is completely free and open source (Apache-2.0 license). All features are included, no features behind a paywall. The only costs are the server.
What happens if Coolify itself crashes?
Your deployed applications run in their own Docker containers and are independent of Coolify. When the server restarts, all containers are automatically restarted. Coolify itself also runs as a Docker container with an automatic restart policy.
How do I update Coolify?
Coolify can update itself automatically or you can trigger the update manually via the dashboard. For production environments, we recommend disabling automatic updates and reviewing changes before each update.
Can I migrate from a cloud platform?
Yes. Coolify automatically detects common frameworks and reads existing configuration files. For most projects, it is enough to connect the Git repository, transfer environment variables and migrate the database. The move typically takes an afternoon.
Which applications can I deploy?
Anything that runs in a Docker container. Coolify automatically detects Node.js, Python, PHP, Go, Ruby and Rust. Frameworks like Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit and Astro are natively supported. Additionally, over 280 one-click services are available, from WordPress to databases to monitoring tools.
How do I back up my applications?
Regular backups of databases, volumes and configuration files are recommended. Coolify offers built-in database backups with a configurable schedule. Additionally, the dataforest Cloud offers optional automatic offsite backups as an add-on option. For production systems, we recommend independently backing up important data to external systems as well.
