This update brings two things. First, your backups now stay around even after you delete the Seed they belong to, and a new Backups page in the console gathers them all in one place. Second, with GPU Seeds we are looking ahead to a Seed with a dedicated graphics card that we are currently building.
Backups now outlive a deleted Seed
Your backups are no longer tied to the lifetime of a Seed. Each one stays available for seven days, even after the Seed it belongs to is gone, and within that window you can restore it onto a new Seed from the state of its most recent backup.
You see all of this on a new Backups page in the console. Open it from the Backups entry in the sidebar, where you find every backup across all of your Seeds in one place, including those of Seeds that are already gone. For each backup, you can see which Seed it belongs to, its location, its size, when it was created and when it will be deleted. You can sort the list by creation time, size and deletion time.
You can restore a backup in two ways: straight onto its original Seed, or, in a few clicks, onto a brand-new Seed. When creating a new Seed, you simply pick the backup as its source, which is exactly how you restore a Seed that is long gone.
No backups yet? Turn on automatic backups for a Seed, and your backups will run daily from then on and show up on the new page automatically.
GPU Seeds: coming soon
We are working on a new kind of Seed: the GPU Seed. A Seed is our cloud server, which you spin up in seconds with full root access. A GPU Seed adds a full, dedicated NVIDIA graphics card.
At launch, we plan to run the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell with 96 GB of VRAM, available to you in full and on your workload alone. That is enough for models with long context windows to fit on a single card. It is billed by the hour, hosted entirely in Germany, and managed just like any other Seed.
This is useful anywhere the graphics card does the real work, for example your own AI models and LLMs, image, video and audio processing, scientific computing or 3D rendering.
GPU Seeds are not bookable yet, but they are coming soon. On the new GPU Seeds page you can learn more and sign up to get notified. We will let you know the moment they go live.
