This update brings two new features: the option to disable basic DDoS protection per IP address, and a cost alert that notifies your team by email as soon as your monthly costs exceed a set amount.
DDoS protection: can now be disabled per IP address
All public IPv4 addresses in our network are covered by our basic protection by default. It automatically filters common attack patterns at no additional cost, regardless of the intensity and duration of the attack. For some use cases, however, it can be desirable to disable this protection.
In the Network tab of the Seed detail page, the new DDoS protection section shows all public IPv4 addresses along with their current protection status. There you can turn basic protection on and off per IP address as needed.
Caution: If you disable the protection, all traffic reaches your Seed unfiltered.
With this feature, we are laying the groundwork for fully integrating our DDoS protection into the cloud. This will take some time, and we are deliberately not naming a target date. As with every feature in the cloud, our standard is to ship only once it is mature and reliably protects you when an attack hits.
Cost alerts: keep an eye on your costs
On the Billing page you will find the new Cost alert card. There you can set an amount. As soon as your team's current monthly costs exceed this amount, your team automatically receives an email.
So that you always know where you stand, the card shows your costs to date and the projection until the end of the month relative to the amount you set. That way you can tell in advance whether the amount will be exceeded this month at your current resource usage. You can edit the amount at any time and remove it with a single click.
