June brought two larger features with firewalls and multiple IPv4 addresses, each with its own article. Alongside those, a number of further improvements went live, which we have summarized here.
New image: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
When creating a Seed, you can now choose Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. As an LTS release (Long Term Support), this version receives security and maintenance updates for years. That makes it a good fit for systems you want to run reliably over the long term. You select the image as usual during the ordering process.
Updated rescue system
The rescue system lets you boot a Seed independently of its installed operating system to repair it or back up data. It is now based on grml 2026.04, replacing the previous 2025.08 release. This gives you a more recent kernel and newer tools when it counts, for example to check file systems, fix a broken configuration or recover content. You still activate the rescue system in the seed management under Rescue.
More reliable SMS during registration
We have moved phone number verification during registration to a new flow. As a result, confirmation SMS are delivered more reliably, especially to international and US phone numbers.
Invoice emails straight from the cloud
Your invoice emails now come directly from the dataforest cloud, just like every other notification you receive from us. Sender, design and delivery are now consistent throughout. The invoice itself is still attached to each email as a PDF.
Further improvements
- New: A step-by-step guide for a self-hosted AI workspace with Odysseus
- New: A solution page on monitoring on your own server
- Improved: Smaller refinements to the interface and wording across the entire cloud
We look forward to your feedback and are available for any questions as usual.
